Make dependencies work for you!

Writer: Shahar BahatShahar Bahat

I'd like to talk today about one of the most awesome aspects of vulnerability management and supply chain risk: dependencies.

Dependencies are an essential part of any system or process, and they can have a significant impact on the overall risk level. However, it's easy to forget about them or overlook their importance, which can lead to negative consequences.

A main advantage of dependencies is their ability to speed up the risk remediation process. We can eliminate the risk of the rest of the system or process by identifying and addressing the top dependencies first. As a result, we can focus our resources and efforts more effectively, saving time and money.

The flip side of this, however, is that if we neglect our dependencies, they can also harm us. Downtime, data loss, or other negative outcomes can result from overlooking a critical dependency.

In order to avoid these risks, it's important to follow best practices when it comes to dependencies. Regularly reviewing and updating your dependency list, tracking all dependencies, and testing for vulnerabilities and risks related to dependencies are part of this process.

To conclude, dependencies are an integral part of vulnerability management and supply chain risk, which must be considered at all times. We can manage risks effectively and ensure our systems and processes are secure by following best practices and addressing the top dependencies and letting them work for you!
